The Iranian Revolutionary Guards retaliated Wednesday night by sending rockets to the Iraqi base of Ain al-Assad, in the desert west of the country, where Americans are stationed. The Iranian news channel PressTV said they "confirmed that they hit (this) base in Iraq with dozens of missiles. Across the Atlantic, the Pentagon announced that the Iranians have fired "more than a dozen missiles.




President Donald Trump has been informed of the strikes on U.S. facilities in Iraq and is monitoring the situation "closely," the White House said Tuesday evening. "We are aware of reports of attacks on U.S. facilities in Iraq. The president has been briefed, is monitoring the situation closely and is consulting with his national security team," U.S. executive spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said.

Iran is threatening "even more devastating responses" in the event of a new US attack after the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, Iranian television announced.
